free yourself from overwhelming chaos

Feeling overwhelmed by chaos? It's all too much! This ebook could save you far more time and money than you could ever imagine! And time, as you know, is money. Packed full of useful tips and advice drawn from Simone Nelson's experience of running a successful mail order (smoked salmon) business for 7 years, this ebook will give you the basic background to the various things you need to know in order to set up and run your mail order business.

Written in a flowing informal style, this book follows the order of thinking that you need to apply in setting up your mail order business. By making the right decisions at the right time in the right sequence, you can save yourself a lot of headache, heartache, and can free yourself from the mountain of chaos that appears to await you! We believe that nowhere else will you find a book that covers a range of topics so specifically relevant for setting up a small mail order business, all in a single place, and written in such an easy-to-read style.

Background

Dundonnell Salmon was ‘born’ in 1982 in the middle of glorious Wester Ross coastline at Laide Fishing Station, on Gruinard Bay. Simone Nelson, Small Business Advisor Over time the owner decided that she could no longer cope alone with the growing number of customers, and all the paperwork that entailed; so the running of the business was passed to Simone Nelson in 1996 who lived just over the hill on the shores of Little Loch Broom. For the next 7 years Simone developed the business successfully, computerising its operations with the help of a local computer programmer. Subsequently she found that there was a demand for the order processing software that she had built, and therefore started selling this on to other small mail order businesses.

In the process she found herself acting as an informal business advisor to her software customers, to such an extent that it was not always easy for her to concentrate on selling salmon and software at the same time. Thus during 2003 the smoked salmon business moved to the Smokehouse in Buckie on the Moray Firth - having completely outgrown Sea View (Simone and Ian Nelson’s home) - poor Ian could see the day coming when all that might be left for him was a standing place in a corner!

Simone was now free to concentrate more on developing the software, and in this capacity continued to provide high quality business advice to her software customers. In order to help fund the development costs, she also decided to run another mail order business selling cosmetics, becoming the UK distributor for LipInks. She added to her team a versatile IT professional, Dr Alasdair Broun of Skye Website Services, who has contributed strongly to the book.

Why we feel this book is unique

Simone's sympathy for the formidable difficulties faced by a small mail order business having to meet the challenges of 21st century technology and selling via the internet as well as by traditional means, places her in a unique position to give this advice. She knows exactly the kinds of issues that need to be considered by anyone attempting to run this kind of business, and many of those she has helped have started from a room in a house with no expertise, legal, technological or financial. Thus this book is written in the same kind of informal manner that she gave advice to her customers - friendly, jargon-free, and with the benefit of many years of experience during some of the most challenging times.
